What Is It?

HERMetic UTImeter GTex enables three measurements in a single operation:

  • Ullage level measurement
  • Temperature verification
  • Oil-water interface level detection

Available in four versions:

GTex Standard

1-inch sensing probe with FKM gaskets — optimized for key hydrocarbon applications.

GTex Chem

1-inch sensing probe with FFKM gaskets and tape connector for corrosive liquids.

GTex Visc

2-inch load on sensing probe — recommended for high viscous hydrocarbon products.

GTex Chem Visc

2-inch sensing probe for high viscous corrosive liquids aboard chemical tankers.

How Does It Work?

The sensor of HERMetic UTImeter GTex is calibrated once at the factory and does not require subsequent calibration. The temperature probe is an RTD element with characteristics stored inside the sensor — sending true temperature values to the electronic package. Changing a sensor or tape does not require a new calibration.

The unit complies with a host of international regulations:

IMO (SOLAS 74) MARPOL 73/78 ISO 4512 ISO 3170 ISO 4268 API MPMS Chap 3.1A API MPMS Chap 7 API MPMS Chap 8.1 IP PMM Part III-1 EC Directive 89/336/EEC EC Directive 94/9/EC ATEX 100a

Approved by national authorities and classification societies:

USCG
MSA
GOST-R
ATEX
IECEx
Factory Mutual

What Problems Does It Solve?

Honeywell's HERMetic UTImeter GTex allows static verification of the liquid level in a tank and continuous temperature reading of the liquid with high repeatability, thanks to the electronic detection principle. The fully modular unit ensures accuracy and stability, while reducing maintenance costs for users.

MMC Tanktech Foreign Valve Adaptors for HERMetic UTIMeter

Adaptors for Foreign Valves

Honeywell provides adaptors and storage tubes for HERMetic gauges and samplers for connection on already installed non-Honeywell valves onboard. With these, users can install the gauges and samplers on any vessel already equipped with ball valves.

What Is It?

Portable level gauging and sampling equipment has to be connected to a ball valve installed on top of each tank. These valves are difficult to remove or exchange when the vessel is already in operation. HERMetic portable equipment can be fitted with special adaptors for installation on non-Honeywell valves.

  • TS 55000: Connects all HERMetic units with 1-inch quick connect coupling to valves with UNF 2½-inch connection.
  • TS 55115: Connects all HERMetic units with 2-inch quick connector to valves with UNF 2½-inch connection.

Additional special adaptors are available on request.

How Does It Work?

In order to match existing tank tables, it is very important to know the exact type of valves installed onboard and the reference height of the reading index. The portable equipment, fitted with the correct storage tube, will have the same reading level without the need of reading index level compensation. When a unit is fitted with such a connection, a separate grounding strap is required for intrinsic safety compliance.

What Problems Does It Solve?

The special storage tube and adaptors permit easy connection on foreign valves without the need to change already installed ball valves onboard and without any correction of the tank tables.

The HERMetic range of accessories helps users comply with IMO requirements on Tanker Safety and Pollution Prevention 1978 — Resolution A.446 (XI).

HERMetic Onecal Thermometer – Intrinsically Safe Portable Digital Field Thermometer Zone 0

HERMetic Onecal Thermometer for Marine Applications

Designed for use in hazardous environments (Zone 0), the HERMetic Onecal is a highly accurate, intrinsically safe portable digital field thermometer for temperature verification inside tanks storing liquids.

What Is It?

The Onecal has been designed with users' needs in mind. Cable, sensor and electronic display unit components can be changed without special tools or soldering. Recalibration is achieved by a simple ice point check — no laboratory required, no reference thermometer needed. Only the annual calibration verification, required by national standards, has to be performed against certified traceable reference thermometers.

Accurate temperature measurement is critical for volume calculation, as recognized by ISO 4268 (2000) and API MPMS Chapter 7 (2001).

How Does It Work?

The ergonomic housing allows for easy and safe cable storage. By counting cable loops, the fed cable length can be determined:

  • 1 cable loop = 2 feet
  • 3 cable loops = 2 meters

What Problems Does It Solve?

A 1°C / 2°F error in temperature measurement for crude oil and petroleum products can equate to approximately 0.1% error in standard volume calculation. Onecal provides reliable, accurate temperature measurement to prevent costly custody transfer discrepancies.
